Atlantian Films holds first costume/make up test

Atlantian Films, Connecticut’s newest film studio, recently had their first costume and make up tests to determine which “look” works best for the upcoming film, MINDSCAPES.

The screen tests were held at the Atlantian Films studio in New Hartford and several cancer survivors were invited to take part in the test shoot. Tracey Gamer Fanning, president of the CT Brain Tumor Alliance of West Hartford was one of the many in attendance for a chance to see what movie making is about.

Atlantian Films is in the process of creating a cancer foundation known as the “Cancer Survivors Who Can Charities.” The foundation would allow cancer patients who wish to learn the art of filmmaking to do so by working on a local production. Brian Spectre, the president of Atlantian Films and a 20-year cancer survivor, wants to help dispel the myth that people with cancer are helpless. “There’s a lot of discrimination against those who are ill,” said Mr. Spectre. “Our organization wants to make sure such discrimination doesn’t happen.”

The Hair Loft of Avon sponsored the CSWC wardrobe and screen test. All of the staff donated their time to benefit cancer and the owners catered the event. The Meat House of Avon generously provided the food for the evening.

Atlantian Films has filed all documents with the state of Connecticut to qualify for eventual 501©(3) status. Production for “Mindscapes” is scheduled to begin in May and will continue shooting in and around the Farmington Valley throughout the rest of 2013.
